Happy Legs™ stand stay stilts.

Hello, my name is Susan Catlin, and I invented Happy Legs™. I thought I would share with you my story of dogs, family, and the hobby we all love. Please contact me with yours.

My husband, David, and I work in our woodshop every day, handcrafting each and every Happy Legs™ you receive. David and I have been married for 52 years in July and have a wonderful daughter, Jasmine. She was raised in show dogs and continues today with agility and conformation. Along with her husband, Trevor, they have two little girls, Rowen and Averie. Jaz and Trevor own a veterinarian hospital, where they help many pets that come into their care.

I am 71 years old and I showed Rottweilers for 50 years. Our foundation dog was purchased in 1973 and our foundation bitch in 1975. Ch. Rosh and Ch. Ulti were wonderful companion and conformation dogs and produced several titled puppies for us, including our first-generation champion, Cologne. From these beloved Rottweilers, we have today our 10th generation Rottweiler on the property. From all our dogs that came before him to now, their love and devotion have been things dreams are made of.

My foundation Chinese Crested was acquired in 1991, and I have since bred over 25 champions. I owned/handled all of these dogs.

My shorthairs are brothers, having lost their mother in 2013. She was a multi BIS, BISS bitch, Am/Can Ch. Brush Country That’s My Point. Her son, Am/Can Ch. Brush Country Here’s My Point was WD and Best in Sweeps at the GSP National and WD/BW at the GSP Canadian National. These dogs were all professionally handled.

Our delightful Wirehaired Dachshunds are Canadian-bred, including Ch. Victory’s First Lady W, a standard bitch. Our boy is mini-wire, Ch. Stone Valley Hans Dieter. I bred my standard bitch, and Jasmine has a girl, Stonehedge Serra Avatar, RA, MX, MXJ, Ch. Stonehedge Barnaby Jones, CDX, RE, DA, AXJ, CbC, owned by Dena Hudson is the brother to Serra.

I owned/handled my dogs from the ‘70s through the ‘90s in addition to being a professional handler. Exhibiting in the US and Canada, I handled the #1 Samoyed dog in 1996. Under my guidance, he was a multi BIS and BISS winner, Herding-tested, Companion Dog-titled, and a Canadian Champion.

I was an AKC judge from 1997 to 2022 having judged for 25 wonderful years. My assignments had taken me all over the US, as well as the Philippines, New Zealand, Canada, and Jamaica. It was a rich and rewarding experience with the privilege of judging many incredible dogs.

I am a lifetime member of the Atlanta Kennel Club. I was a founding member of the Dogwood Rottweiler Club of Atlanta, and until recently I was a 36 year member of the American Rottweiler Club.
